Opening movies

To open a movie in Pro Player, do one of the following:

When Pro Player is quit or a new movie is loaded, various playback settings are stored for the current movie - looping, view alpha, view transparency, in point, out point and play selection only. These settings can be quickly reset for the current movie by choosing ViewReset Playback Settings...


Movie information

The lower left of the Pro Player window displays information about the current file.

The file name is shown at the top with up to four panels below (depending on which tracks exist in the movie).

  1. File information (top left): Frames per second, Duration, File size and Data rate.
  2. Video track information (top right): Video codec, Frame size and Color depth.
  3. Timecode track information (lower left): Timecode availability, Start Timecode and Source name.
  4. Audio track information (lower right): Audio codec, Audio channel format and Sample rate.

The current timecode is shown in the lower center of the Pro Player window. If the movie does not contain a timecode track, then absolute time from start of the movie is displayed.


Viewing in full screen

To enter full screen viewer mode, do one of the following:

The zoom animation to and from full screen viewer mode can be enabled or disabled in Preferences.

Pro Player fully supports JKL keys for playback control.

Viewing controls

If a movie is encoded with a video codec that supports alpha channel, then Pro Player supports the following viewing modes. changing the background from black to checkerboard to reveal transparency.

Audio volume

Volume and mute settings are active across all movies, rather than being stored and recalled separately for each movie as with other settings.
